Background and education approach
Victoria Friendly Montessori - VFM Kenya is a community-based educational institution located on Rusinga Island, Kenya, dedicated to providing inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education to vulnerable and underserved children. Established in 2005 in response to systemic barriers that prevented many children, particularly those from low-income households, from accessing and completing basic education, the school has grown into a fully structured learning institution currently serving 390 learners across early childhood, primary, and junior secondary levels.
The school delivers a comprehensive and continuous education pathway for children aged 3 to 15 years, integrating the Montessori approach in early years with Kenya’s Competency-Based Education (CBE) curriculum. This blended model ensures that learners develop strong foundational skills while remaining aligned with national academic standards and progression frameworks.
